Service Description

Provides partial emergency rent and move-in assistance.
Distributes emergency no-cook food bags when available.
Provides limited (two per session) gasoline vouchers.
Provides limited (three per session) bus tickets, when available.
Offers information and referral to other community resources.
Provides emergency motel vouchers for clients receiving case management from another agency.

Eligibility


Residents of the Federal Way School District and Northeast Tacoma.
Client/household may be assisted once in a 24-month period. After the second time a client is assisted, they may not be assisted again for four years.
May limit number of new households who can be helped at each session.

Rent Assistance
- Must be renting a separate private unit which includes cooking and bathroom facilities; may not be able to help in all shared housing situations.
- Cannot help those living in transitional housing or clean and sober housing.

Move-In:
- Must be moving into housing within the Federal Way School District, regardless of current city of residency.

Gas vouchers:
- Must have valid driver's license
- Must have proof of current, or if homeless, former Federal Way/NE Tacoma residency.

Motel voucher can be provided to homeless families with minor children or an adult with disabilities with proof of previous address in Federal Way or NE Tacoma or an established relationship with Federal Way.
- Must be receiving case management from an agency in South King County
- If disabled, must have government certification
- Vouchers are for motels in the area of Federal Way School District

TELEPHONE MESSAGES ARE NOT ACCEPTED.
Do NOT go to the church office or call the church office.
Emergency Services is located in a portable building on west side of the Church of the Good Shepherd.
Assistance is only available during walk in hours. First come; first served.

Documents Required for Rent Assistance:
- Photo ID or Social Security card
- Proof of address
- Rental agreement OR lease OR eviction notice
- Income verification

Documents Required for Motel Vouchers:
- Photo ID for all adults
- Children's ID is required if child is not present at screening
- Proof of previous address in Federal Way or NE Tacoma or an established relationship with Federal Way
- If disabled, must have government disability certification
- Written documentation of case management, including contact information.

Vouchers are for motels in the Federal Way School District. No geographic restrictions for hot meals and clothing.
