Service Description

Provides grants four times a year for people with developmental disabilities who are looking for financial assistance for necessities such as basic household furnishings, first-time rent and utility deposits, home safety and mobility devices such as fences, wheelchair ramps and hand rails, as well as assistive technology. Grants do not cover items such as past-due utility or medical bills, food, clothing, entertainment equipment, household furnishings already purchased or home repairs/modifications already completed. Requests for up to $1,000 may be made. Individuals are eligible to receive grant funds every three years. Grant funds received must be used for the approved purposes within three months.

Eligibility

Individuals with a documented developmental disability (for example, Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, fragile X syndrome or fetal alcohol spectrum disorder) that has been identified by the Division of Developmental Disabilities, who has a financial need that cannot be met through any other source.
