Service Description
Offers a variety of employment and training services.
Workforce Readiness: Following an intake interview, all clients are scheduled for a one-day class that covers topics such as the Seattle job market, resume and cover letter preparation, how to conduct a target job search and job interview skills.
Computer Technology Training: Intensive four-month computer training program instructs students in keyboarding, word processing, computer applications, filing, ten-key, communication skills, Internet access, business math and business English. Emphasizes OC3 certification, Microsoft Word, Access and/or accelerated certification. Classes run from 9am-1pm, M-F. Additionally offers six- to eight-week courses in occupation enrichment or entrepreneur/business training, a four-week college readiness courses and a two- to four-week course in computer literacy.
Office Skills Training Brush-Up: Offers an intensive one- to three-month course for individuals with previous secretarial experience. The course stresses improvement in keyboarding, computer applications, ten-key, filing and communication skills. Classes run from 9am-1pm, M-F.
Training/Education Incentive: Individuals entering an accredited college or vocational school program may be eligible for tuition assistance. Proof of registration and paid fees will be required.
Referrals: Staff may provide referrals to apprenticeship programs and help clients with job searches.
Support Services: Upon completing the Workforce Readiness class and finding employment, clients may be eligible for supportive services at the discretion of the Director of the Employment and Training Department. These services may include transportation allowance, food allowance, work clothing/shoes (if required by the employer), or other reasonable job-related expenses.
Summer Youth Employment Experience: Limited number of work experience positions are available during the summer months to eligible high school students. Interested parties should contact the WIA office in January for further information.

Application Instructions
Call or walk in. All applicants must complete a Title IV, WIA Intake to determine eligibility. Testing is required for entrance into any program.
