Service Description

Provides nightly emergency shelter screening and referral for women.
Places women in several agency- and congregation-based shelters in Seattle.
Shelter placement is dependent on space availability and cannot be guaranteed.
Staff determines which shelter is the best match for each client.
Makes every attempt possible to refer to women-only shelters, but sometimes needs to refer elsewhere.
There is food available while clients wait to be screened.


Provides all screening for the following shelters:
- Bethany Community Church
- Catholic Housing Services - Noel House Programs (Noel House and St. Mark's Cathedral)
- Compass Center - Hammond House
- DESC - Downtown Emergency Service Center - Kerner-Scott House
- Holy Rosary Catholic Church
- Operation Nightwatch (women)
- St. John's Catholic Church
- Temple de Hirsch Sinai
- Union Shelter
- YWCA of Seattle/King County Snohomish County - Opportunity Place - Angeline's Women's Winter Shelter

Eligibility

Women, ages 18 and older.
No children.
Alcohol, drugs, weapons and abusive behavior not allowed.
Accepts those with criminal history.
Center is accessible to those with wheelchairs and other mobility devices. Staff will refer guests to accessible shelters as appropriate, if possible.


Application Instructions

Visit in person.
Priority given to clients who arrive by 8pm.
Does not perform background checks or require any proof of identity.
